Yay, back on again today! Same as yesterday BBCi. I'll have to check the weather lunchtime I think! I heard through the grapevine that Matt thinks there's going to be some clouds 'knocking on doors in the North East' !! So if you're in the north east look out for some very low cloud!!
It's a sad but true fact that I don't have sound on my computer at work so I can see the forecast but not hear it!
I did see Matt was working today but I only saw him on BBCi doing the UK and World weather, looking very happy though and lovely as usual. It seems summer has arrived finally at least for a little while.
Before I go off-topic, a new development has occured, Matt now has a group on facebook , I hope this link works!
I had a little trip to Bristol on Saturday to the Harbour Festival which was really good. All sorts of stuff going on, a beach!, tall ships, live music, a funfair and not forgetting of course, the BBC News and Sport on tour. Sean Batty was there from the BBC weather centre teaching people the ropes on weather presenting, A LOT harder than the professionals make it look! No script, no autocue, a monitor that shows them their graphics in reverse and a director shouting all manner of things in their ear whilst they have to remember what they have got to tell you about the weather! Wow! It is apparently the hardest thing to present. They gave people the chance to have a go at news presenting and behind the scenes stuff like camera operation and autocue controller. I was a total coward and didn't have a go at any of it, just watched the others! A couple of budding news presenters I think. But I don't think Matt and co. have anything to worry about, I didn't see any budding weather presenters, not that day anyway.
I only saw one forecast last night of Matt's because I'm not good with Monday evenings, always tired. But I did wake up again around 11 and couldn't resist putting the TV on just to have a quick looksee! 'An isolated shower in the Celtic Sea' apparently! I don't know if I've had a memory relapse or what but I don't ever remember hearing about the celtic sea before!! Wow, who knew your favourite weatherman could teach you stuff at 11 O'clock at night when you're half asleep!!
He wasn't on Janice Long's show this morning, infact no-one was because they had technical difficulties. Poor Janice was denied her chat with Susan Powell.
Matt was however doing the local forecasts on Breakfast this morning and towards the end of ours we got a very scottish sounding 'come and go' !! I don't know why it sounded more scottish than normal maybe just because it was at the end of a sentence.
A very nice start to a day I wasn't much looking forward to at work writing procedures!!
Ohhh, I've been a bad blogger today. Summer has temporarily visited us and I've been outside topping up my tan all afternoon.
I saw Chris Fawkes on News 24 last night, what a dirty laugh!!!! Lmao. Can't remember now what the news presenter said but it was funny, and Chris seemed very keen to impart the good news about Tuesdays weather!! And he was brightening things up with a pink tie!
The weather continues to dominate the news today. All eyes on the weather forecasts, nothing new there for some of us! One of my previous homes of Abingdon in Oxfordshire is experiencing flooding today with more to come.
Anyway, anyway Matt back on Breakfast this morning, giving most of us some dry and bright weather for today, and still promising a good day for Tuesday (you know how quickily these things can be taken away from us, gotta keep an eye on it!!) And if it really is summer I think it should be a national holiday for sure!
And below, summer gone! The bad news continues:
But lets just look at Tuesday for now: No rain!!
I have heard that Matt was on News 24 this afternoon, but as I was such a bad fan and bad blogger today I didn't see that , the 'deck chair' was calling! I did see him on BBCi world weather though
Very busy morning for Matt this morning! As well as the usual half hour forecasts, visits to the news desk for interviews by Matt and Susanna as well! As Mr George has pointed out to me today it called almost be The Matt Taylor Show! Hmmmm, now that sounds good!! I think most of todays programme has been taken over by weather and Harry Potter! Perhaps Harry has been meddling with our weather! Rarely has the weather taken up so much news time as just lately.
Very busy time for the Met Office I would imagine, bet there's some headless chickens running around there.
When I next move, I'm going to find a house on a hill for sure.
Pictures of the lovely town of Stratford-upon-Avon seems to have become Stratford-In-Avon!!
When the alarm went off at 6.10 this morning there wasn't a cloud in the sky here, but as Matt warned the clouds have well and truly bubbled up now. It's like another world out there, we've had rain here but as well as missing any storms around we've missed much of the rain too.
Haha, I speak so soon!! Currently having some heavy rain!! lol. Very much a sunshine and showers day today.
Matt with Matt (!!!) at the news desk talking about the floods:
And specially for George, Rainfall figures:
And the bigger picture with isobars:
Nice shirt this morning too!
Charlie (Gordon) Brown has just been asked why the government responded much quicker after the South East was flooded as opposed to the North and he totally ignored the question! Not much changes!
Matt is now appearing on BBCi for the UK and World weather, and back in more formal jacket and tie, nice pale blue shirt and various blues tie. He's keeping me on my toes today too, he's now on News 24 as well!! He's giving us good news for Tuesday, dry and bright, sunshine even for nearly all by the looks of it.
Matt was back on Breakfast this morning and they sent him outside in his wet weather gear and Umbrella!! (NB. See comment on this post, very true!!)
On the 7.45 an outrageous statement from Matt: 'Here's one face you probably don't want to see this morning, it's only bringing bad news particularly for southern England' As if! Of course we want to see that face on a Friday morning, we know the weekend is properly starting! And we like that face very much, no matter what the weather.
8.47 forecast:
'You certainly wouldn't want to be sititing in the queues for that Harry Potter book at the moment, especially across southern parts of England and Wales, a throughly atrocious start to the day'
'I don't know maybe something of an Indian summer on the way, but for the time being still plenty of rain'
Matt was on overnight last night but due to having had one hours sleep Sunday night/Monday morning I was asleep! But he did do the local forecasts on Breakfast this morning so I saw him then! Yay. AND he's predicting some lightning for me! Can't be bad!! It's very cloudy but quite bright this morning with lots of grey clouds around, if that makes any sense at all! Clouds are sailing past the window pretty quickly at the moment.
Much fun and hilarity on the Janice Long show this morning!
'Good morning to you, where is our summer? I really don't know, it's another one of those days, the thundery ball's out once again' That was how Matt started this morning on the 6.15 forecast, lots of rain and storms around today, but Southampton misses out on the storms as usual. I love that picture of the pink sky with the lightning going across it, very nice.
On the 6.45 forecast he reminds us 'St. Swithins Day today, and if you believe the law we've got another 40 days of rain to come, not great news' , certainly isn't great news, we're all going to end up with webbed feet at this rate! (St Swithins day if it dost rain, for 40 days 'twill remain)
9 o clock forecast 'I still can't offer you any real summer like weather for you over the next few days'. O dear!!
Nice light green shirt today. I got the impression he's quite enjoying all this active weather.
I'm glad I'm not on holiday in West Dorset now! Looks like it'll be dry tomorrow morning which is definitely a good thing as my parking permit at work has expired and I'm going to have a 10 minute walk uphill to get there in the morning from the nearest side road, that wouldn't be good in heavy driving rain!!
Just seen the 3.30 forecast (Matt is STILL there) and Southampton got a mention!
Yay, it's a Matt on Breakfast weekend, giving us the now all too familiar summer severe weather warnings! But also re-assuring us that we may well see some sunshine too. And it is indeed sunny here already. No banter going on this morning at all and no Bill! That could be why! It's good to see Matt again though after my week away, as far as I know I only missed him last Monday night other than yesterday, so that's ok, but I'm not happy about missing yesterday. He's wearing a yellow shirt today, perhaps to encourage the sun to shine some more for us.
The 10 o clock forecast, following a discussion about the Beckhams relocation to American and whether they are too saucy for American tastes, Matt tells us 'there's nothing saucy about the weather this weekend' ,lol.
And now appearing on BBCi world weather in more formal suit and tie.
I'm back!!!! I have an internet connection and email and everything!! It's sooooooo good! And a little birdie, Mr George, told me that Matt was on Breakfast this morning!! I missed him . I have also heard that the TBT page has not been updated for a week!! Outrageous. If they can't find someone to do the job I'll happily volunteer!!
Guess I'll just have to wait til tomorrow and hope he's back again then, I'm sure he will be. Fingers crossed.
As holiday day has finally arrived I had a lie-in this morning and woke up to Matt on News 24 at 9.25 ish. Good start to my holiday definitely. Now I have to throw stuff in the suitcase peeking at the TV every 25 and 55 pasts! Sure that won't be a problem!
Had rain on the way to Glastonbury and rain on the way back! What an atrocious July day!!! Bet Matt's glad he wasn't working today! Darren was getting a hard time earlier by the sounds of it on News 24, think he'd had some email complaints!
If the TBT page is to be believed today, then Matt will be on again today, and I will make a big effort to catch a forecast or two today. Especially as I need to know if I will be driving to or back from Glastonbury in the rain tomorrow. Earlier this morning it looked like to in the dry and back in the rain, but that can change, hopefully!
Alan Johnstone is freed today! Yay, about time too. All the very best to Alan and his family, a time to celebrate on this day of independence!! Fantastic news.
Just caught the 11.55 forecast with Matt,I'm not going to miss out today! The rain for tomorrow afternoon appears not to have magically disappeared yet! There's still time!
I just went to get my lunch without an umbrella! How stupid am I?? How many weather forecasts do I watch?? Had to shelter under a tree (wasn't the only one under said tree however!!) lucky there was no lightning!!!
Just seen Matt on the 13.25 forecast. I think he's trying to do the magically disappearing thing for me. At 4pm tomorrow rain, and then the graphics go to Friday and rain all gone!! You should know that I'm watching this without any sound! I only have pictures to go by, so it looks like magic to me! (and the pictures are always good when Matt's on!)
Not a good day really. Saw that Matt was working today, but when I heard he was on News 24 I had just missed a forecast and by the next one I was in a meeting which went on for a long time. Sooooo I haven't seen him at all today
Well, I think I've had sleepyitus this weekend, slept quite a bit yesterday and 11 hours last night/today! So I set the DVD recorder for Breakfast so I didn't miss anything. Very glad I did too, I think I would have hit the ceiling if I'd had to sit through the constant talk about 'terrorists'!! As it was I could very very fast forward that, see Matt's forecasts, the bits about the floods and todays Princess Diana concert. That would be really cool to be there.
And the good news from Matt is that the rain is turning into showers!! , I have to say that, although I woke up very late so I have no idea what this morning was like, we have had no rain today that I know of and quite a bit of sun!! And I think I've made sure that the weather will turn for the better from today, as I bought a pair of wellies for my UK holiday!!
